Sin is Sneaky

Sometimes you think you are getting something really awesome, but it turns out it isn’t as awesome as you thought it would be. That feeling is horrible isn’t it! The Bible tells us disobeying God is always like that. God is good and what He gives us is good. When we let sin convince us it is a good idea, it always ends badly.

God tells us to stay away from wicked things and not to let them whisper their terrible lies to us. I think these verses from the part of the Bible after Jesus is born say it a little bit more clearly:

These verses tell us that sin is a way that we get what we want without listening to God…actually sin tells us that we will get what we want, but ends up being the death of us. We can look at who God is and the awesome things God has made, and we can know that our best option is obeying Him, always.

Discussion Questions:

  • What sometimes seems like a better idea than obeying God?
  • How has sin sneakily tried to convince you to disobey God today?
  • How can you fight against obeying sin instead of God?

A good activity to do would be to write down some things about God that help you to think about how good He is. Here is a verse that has been one of my favorites recently that says a lot about who God is:
